Politician about E-Sports: E-Sports have nothing to do with sports

E-Sports has always caused controversy since its emergence. With the explanations made during the period, the ideas were shared with the public that E-Sports is not a sport. A similar statement came from Germany today.

German politician said they want to exterminate E-Sports term

Peter Beuth, who is the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Sports of the State of Hesse, made an interesting statement about E-Sports. The 51-year-old politician said they wanted to exterminate the term E-Sports. Beuth said the following; “E-Sports have nothing to do with sports. We need to exterminate that term“, Beuth said in a speech to the participants of the gymnastics and sports congress in Darmstadt in a calm tone. “I’m not sure yet how moving the thumb and forefinger is supposed to be a sport, even if there’s something moving on the screen. This congress is about education and health. We want to get the kids into the gym and into the field. Gaming has its value. But it does not belong in a sports organization as such because it adorns itself with a title whose values I miss there.”

Peter Beuth‘s explanation for this statement is that the current coalition in Germany is preparing to accept E-Sports. Thus, players and E-Sports organizations can have certain rights. People will be able to establish their own teams and clubs and benefit from benefits and concessions.

We do not yet know how the reactions from the game world will come for the explanation of the German politician. However, it is a fact that the E-Sports debates will be discussed for a longer time. What do you think about it, does E-Sports uses a title that does not have the right?
