GTA IV has been removed from Steam because of GFWL

Grand Theft Auto IV was removed from Steam this week due to GFWL (Games For Windows Live) according to a Rockstar spokesperson. This means the game is not available for purchase on Steam. However, if you have the game in your library, you will still be able to play the game without any problems.

The spokesperson said “Grand Theft Auto IV was originally created for the Games For Windows Live platform. With Microsoft no longer supporting Games For Windows Live, it is no longer possible to generate the additional keys needed to continue selling the current version of the game. We are looking at other options for distributing GTA IV for PC and will share more information as soon as we can.” Rockstar Games may remove GFWL from the game and re-release it. However, what Rockstar Games will do next is still unclear.
