Facebook, which will contribute to the supply of 720,000 respirators to healthcare professionals, aims to contribute to the COVID-19 outbreak with this. Of course, it would be unnecessary to say that this is valid only in the USA. Similar donations have been made by Apple and other companies before.

Facebook donates 700K masks for coronavirus

Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder, and CEO of Facebook announced the donation on social platforms on Sunday.

“Health workers urgently need more protective gear,” Zuckerberg wrote. “To help, Facebook donated our emergency reserve of 720,000 masks that we had bought in case the [California] wildfires continued. We’re also working on sourcing millions of more to donate. I hope you’re all staying healthy and safe!”

The White House called on private companies to donate an N95 breathing mask designed to filter at least 95% of airborne particles. For Facebook, donating masks is an opportunity to show that it can be a good gain in the face of concerns that the company has grown too big and strong. As of the end of 2019, the social giant had about $ 55 billion in cash and equivalent.

The organization is now adding extra staff to track individual posts for self-harm or suicide signs, according to Zuckerberg, and Facebook says it will give $100 million in cash grants and advertisement support to small businesses who need assistance during the coronavirus tragedy.

In a call last week, Zuckerberg also told reporters that – like most of Facebook’s 45,000 employees – he worked from home during the outbreak.

The IT and internet industry is doing its best to support coronavirus studies in all areas. As it is known, we wrote early this morning that a remedy against coronavirus was sought through IBM Summit Super Computer.
