Facebook donates 700K masks for coronavirus
Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder, and CEO of Facebook announced the donation on social platforms on Sunday.
“Health workers urgently need more protective gear,” Zuckerberg wrote. “To help, Facebook donated our emergency reserve of 720,000 masks that we had bought in case the [California] wildfires continued. We’re also working on sourcing millions of more to donate. I hope you’re all staying healthy and safe!”
The White House called on private companies to donate an N95 breathing mask designed to filter at least 95% of airborne particles. For Facebook, donating masks is an opportunity to show that it can be a good gain in the face of concerns that the company has grown too big and strong.
