Box Art of Shenmue 3 Released
Shenmue III is the much anticipated sequel to the Dreamcast classics Shenmue (1999) and Shenmue II (2001). The brainchild of developer legend Yu Suzuki combines classic arcade gameplay, as known from Virtua Fighter, with role-playing elements to tell an epic story on the console.
Shenmue is known worldwide as one of the most ambitious projects in video game history. The cinematic story with its clear focus on the strong characters in combination with realistic battles and fun mini-games, captivates players and critics to this day.
Many features that are commonplace in today’s games, such as quick-time events, made their debut in Shenmue. Shenmue III was unveiled in 2015 as part of the Sony Press Conference at the E3 in Los Angeles. At the same time, the Kickstarter campaign kicked off, holding two Guinness world records to date and receiving over $ 6 million in support. Developing the title, Yu Suzuki‘s independent company, which includes many members of the original Shenmue teams, is responsible for Tokyo-based Ys Net.
