Today, Stardock released a v2.8 update for its massive-scale RTS game, Ashes of the Singularity™: Escalation. The update improves the game’s visual clarity and brings extensive balance updates and bug fixes.
Ashes of the Singularity update 2.8 notes
“We’re scaling up the size of many units and buildings in order to help distinguish and communicate their functionality,” said Callum McCole, lead designer for Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation. “The camera angle is now less ‘top-down’ and more tilted to help distinguish the silhouettes and create a more three dimensional appearance.”
Deformable terrain around buildings has been adjusted for a neater look, and building colors have been adjusted to be more vibrant. The balance updates make dreadnought units more viable by adjusting their health and costs as needed. Each faction’s orbital abilities have been equalized so that neither one overpowers the other.
“We continue to receive valuable feedback from our communities that helps us improve the game for everyone,” said McCole. “Balance has been in a pretty good spot, but we made subtle changes for this update based on what people have been saying online.” v2.8 is now available for download.
