English is no longer the most used language in Steam
According to Valve’s December 2019 Steam Hardware and Software Survey, Simplified Chinese has become the largest language demographics in Steam. According to research based on 90 million active Steam users, 37.8 percent of Steam users use Simplified Chinese. Compared to 2019, the number of people using Simplified Chinese has increased by 14.4 percent.
English, which ranks second, fell to 30.4 percent. For the first time in Steam’s history, English is no longer the most widely used language in Steam. In recent years Steam has invested heavily in the Chinese market. Steam, which opened to the Chinese market with millions of players, welcomed the games of Chinese and Asian developers. As a result, the Steam library was bombarded with games by Asian developers. This has led to a huge increase in the Chinese players’ use of Steam.
