On the video which has been uploaded on YouTube, we can see how exactly the cheat code works. The person who uses the exploit, rush towards any player and with only one click, he is able to leave the affected players buck naked. This pickpocket hack was released by a website called unknowncheats.me.
After the rumors spread, Fallout 76’s subreddit was filled with notices and called Bethesda to close down the online server. On Monday, the company took down the game for an hour and pushed a fix to block the hack. On Reddit, a Bethesda spokesperson stated “We would like to apologize to those of you who were impacted by this exploit. We want to make this right, and we are currently looking into ways we may be able to compensate you.”. After the statement, some of the players are still waiting for good news from Bethesda.
While the pickpocket hack has been patched, there are other hacks that can be used in Fallout 76 distributed by unknowncheats. Such as duplicating a valuable weapon, modifying stats or even adding NPCs to the game. It is still unknown which weaknesses made the cheat codes usable.
