Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated Review

There are some games that people talk about their gameplay, their music, or even their environment. Well, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is a game in which we should talk about all the features above. We cannot talk about a deep story but its levels and challenges are completely covered by the importance of the story. Tout court, let’s start our SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated review.

The game reminds us, I mean the adult players, of our childhood. Think of a day that you’ve just come home from school, you are eating your lunch. TV is open and there is SpongeBob. Like the cartoon, the game also gives that feeling. Bikini Bottom is just the same as the original one. The environment is so colourful and cheerful. There are familiar faces everywhere. Additionally, the pieces of music in the game again match the cartoon.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is also a remake of SpongeBob game published in 2003. The previous version of the game was out for lots of platforms. It was out for Game Boy Advance, too, and it was on the top list of handheld video games of the 21st century, according to Edge. Now, the rehydrated version of the game will come to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

What to do in SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated?

The main goal in the game is to collect 100 golden spatulas and 50 socks for Patrick. We also collect little flower-like shiny objects to unlock the paths for new levels. We can have access to them at Bikini Bottom. There are 13 areas to collect these and you can go to those places again and again once you unlock them.

Levels are very big and contain lots of mini-games, monsters, crates, and challenges. You can just take what is necessary for you and go. And also you can hang around and finish all the mini-games and challenges as side missions. The game is not open-world, but its levels’ maps are very big.

There are 3 playable characters for the single-player mode which are SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy. You can achieve them by unlocking some levels. You can not start the game playing Patrick. But once you unlock them as playable, you can go back to the levels and finish them with your selected character. All 3 of them have their own skills, but I will not spoil the game for you by talking about their skills, etc.

To be able to finish the game, you need all 3 characters and switch between them. As they all have different skills, you need those different skills to get through some levels.

Even if this situation is considered a bad thing for a game, it’s also fun that you can play it without any concerns about dying. It’s a total example of lay-back gaming which you can play with your family.
