Animated Mortal Kombat movie is in works
Since 1992, Mortal Kombat has been an icon for popular culture but it never quite landed onto the right note when it came to movies. It had 2 movies, one in 1995 and the other in 1997, but none of them came close to the franchise’s success in the gaming industry. Although history claims otherwise, 2020 might be the year for Mortal Kombat with a live-action and an animated movie.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge is expected to release in the first half of 2020
Aside from the long-awaited live-action reboot of Mortal Kombat, the animated movie is actually a big surprise. As of now, Mortal Kombat movie rights still belong to Warner Bros. -and if you don’t know, Warner Bros. has a kick-ass animated movie department. Which is pretty much responsible for all the DC animated movies. So, needless to say, the movie is in the right hands.
According to The Hollywood Reporter‘s article, the movie already has its cast, director, and writers set. Plus, it has a name. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge. I mean, it’s pretty generic but what can we expect. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge is directed by Ethan Spaulding with the help of Jeremy Adams on the secret. It’s voice-cast is stacked, to say the least. From Joel McHale to Jennifer Carpenter, it is clear that Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge will have a lot to offer.
