Call of Duty: Warzone or Fortnite: Which is more Popular?
According to the survey of nearly 10.000 teens, Call of Duty: Warzone is more popular than Fortnite. Yahoo conducted a survey on the Taking Stock with Teens. 9,800 teens polled it in the US. Interestingly, Call of Duty: Warzone has shot up while Fortnite has fallen.
When Warzone launched, 62% of respondents said they were playing Call of Duty, up 33%. On the other hand, Fortnite fell from 39% to 37%. 53% of respondents claimed to be playing Fortnite in spring. The most amazing thing is that 42% of teen have been interested in buying Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Also, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the far surpassing titles in terms of buying a new game.
Actually, Warzone’s popularity is not a surprise, this has only been around since March of this year right when COVİD-19 boomed in the US. Furthermore, Fortnite has already been popular for three years, it has had at the forefront of the collective teen psyche for a long time. However, Warzone’s popularity cannot be a bench mark up to the temporal attention of today’s teens. Warzone reached 15 million registered players in just three days. Fortnite took two weeks to get to 10 million registered players. This rapid Warzone popularity is likely because of the general rumours around any Call of Duty game. With Fortnite an original IP, it had not an established fan base at launch.
Additionally, The Taking Stock Teens survey also reveals some ideas of teens about next-gen. According to the responses, 63% of teens plan to buy an Xbox Series X or PS5 within the next two years. This is up 2% from a spring survey asking the same thing. Even more interesting conclusion is the shift towards digital, with 67% of teens planning to purchase via download, up from 61% this spring. Also, 26% planning to purchase all their games digitally, up from 23% earlier in the year.
