Daedalic CEO thinks Xbox can do better compared to the last generation
In the latest issue of EDGE magazine (February 2020, issue 341) Daedalic Entertainment developers and CEO has stated their thoughts about next-gen and their currently in-development Gollum game based on Lord of the Rings in a featured article. Daedalic Entertainment has recently landed a multi-game deal with Tolkien Estate, allowing them to make games based on Lord of the Rings novels.
“I’ve only heard rumors about the Xbox Series X specs, and it’s huge”
In the featured article, Daedalic Entertainment CEO Carsten Fichtelmann has stated his thoughts about Xbox Series X and Microsoft.
“I think Microsoft is doing some things better than they did in the past. And the PS5 will be huge.”
Daedalic Entertainment Game Designer Martin Wilkes has also shared specific details about both Xbox Series X and what it can change for console gaming with fast memory.
“I’ve only heard rumors about the [Xbox Series X] specs, and it’s huge – very fast Flash memory. Which excites me, of course, but I don’t think that’s relevant to this project, because we’re aiming for PC as well. Especially for level designers, though, that’s a dream come true, because we don’t have to concern ourselves with streaming corridors anymore. I think that’s sometimes really painful – to squeeze down these otherwise beautiful, stunning environments because we need another corridor here.”
Both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 are nearly a year away from release. While Microsoft has showcased the design and overall look of Xbox Series X, we still don’t have any details about PlayStation 5 except its usage of SSDs.
