Telltale Games will no longer develop titles in an episodic way

In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Telltale Games CEO Jamie Ottilie has stated that Telltale will no longer develop games on an episodic basis. Although the games will still have their launch schedules optimized via episodic releases, games themselves will be developed altogether rather than continuing development after releasing each episode.

“I think the important distinction here is that we will no longer be developing episodically.”

“We are creating the stories episodically, but how they will be released is still to be determined. I think the important distinction here is that we will no longer be developing episodically. If we do release the game in episodes, all of them will be ready before the first one hits the store.”

These news might be an indicator to Telltale Games’ new direction shortly after turning from the brink of bankruptcy. Back in 2018, Telltale shut down due to financial issues and after spending 1 year in comatose, the company was bought by LCG Entertainment back in August 2019 and have been in a revival state ever since. Even so, they recently announced Wolf Among Us 2 at The Game Awards 2019.

Wolf Among Us is a fan favorite and of the best games from the critically acclaimed studio. While being hype about their comeback is nice and all, we still have a lot of waiting to do until its release because Telltale also announced earlier that it is planned to hit stores in 2021.
