Plague Inc. is now saving the world
Plague Inc. donates $ 250,000 to fight coronavirus. Plague Inc. developer Ndemic Creations, whose main purpose is to spread the plague to the world, announced that it is working on a new mode. The aim of the game seems to have changed. We aim to save the world instead of destroying it. It also makes a wonderful donation of $ 250,000 to combat the current coronavirus outbreak. Although we see various initiatives in the technology world, it is a first for the game side.
Plague Inc. is now saving the world
“Eight years ago, I never imagined the real world would come to resemble a game of Plague Inc. or that so many players would be using Plague Inc. to help them get through an actual pandemic,” said James Vaughan, Plague Inc.’s creator, and Ndemic Creations’ founder, according to the website. And he added, “We are proud to be able to help support the vital work of the WHO and CEPI as they work towards finding a vaccine for COVID-19.”
If you’re wondering exactly what these organizations are, 250,000 donations are split between the Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. Donations can be made to initiatives that help the World Health Organization monitor and understand the virus, accelerate efforts to get material from the forefront workers, create vaccines, tests and treatments.
“We are delighted that Ndemic Creations have so generously contributed to our crucial vaccine development work, especially as we tackle the unprecedented challenge of COVID-19,” said Dr. Richard Hatchett, CEO of CEPI. “Games have an important role in raising awareness of the challenges the world is currently facing. Only through a concerted, global response—with the private sector working together with Governments and philanthropies, pooling resources and expertise—can we hope to stop such emerging epidemic threats.”
So what’s the new game mode?
Ndemic Creations explained that this happened after “repeatedly asking if we can make a game that allows players to work to stop an outbreak”. The company is stepping up work on a new update on players to save the world from a deadly outbreak.
“Players will have to control real-world actions such as managing disease progression, increasing and balancing health systems, quarantining, social removal and shutting down public services.” “We are developing this game mode with the help of the World Health Organization, Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network and other experts.”
Better still, the update will be free for all Plague Inc players during the coronavirus outbreak. The release date for the new mode is not yet known, but Ndemic Creations will be sharing more information soon.
Recently, Plague Inc has been exposed to an active ban in China due to “illegal content” from both Steam and the iOS Store. Before this point, the game became incredibly popular, while the Chinese were trying to understand the outbreak. Ndemic Creations’ players warned that it is a game, not a scientific model. The new game mode can give players at least some comfort these days when we expect the outbreak to be controlled.
Please keep safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and heed the warnings.
