Samsung stopped security update support for its old flagship smartphones Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Also, smartphones were released about four years ago. There will no longer be any updates for the Galaxy S8 duo unless a critical vulnerability discovered.

South Korean technology giant Samsung is one of the brands with the best update program in the Android ecosystem, although it has faced harsh criticism from time to time. Although Samsung has received criticism of “not updating its phones” for releasing only two Android upgrades to its smartphones, it actually continues to release security updates for a long period of four years.

While Samsung continues to work on its new smartphones, it says goodbye to its “old” models. Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, the forerunner of Samsung’s “Infinity Display” with thin bezels. Also, curved screens, have lost update support as of today. This means that, in a sense, these two devices are at the end of their life.

Unlike Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S8 Active and Galaxy S8 Lite will continue to receive security updates.

Compared to its predecessor Galaxy S7 models, the bezel thickness is considerably thinner and one of the most stylish smartphones of its time, the Samsung Galaxy S8 models have been removed from the website where Samsung officially lists the devices that offer update support.

Interestingly, although Samsung has ended update support for the “flagship” models of the series, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+, the names of the Galaxy S8 Active and Galaxy S8 Lite models continue to listed on the website. Accordingly, the Galaxy S8 Active will continue to receive security updates every three months. Besides, the Galaxy S8 Lite every six months. Of course, how long this support will last is a mystery.
