Snapdragon 888 Chipset Announced By Qualcomm
Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 888 chipset, the chip that will bring new flagships to life. First, the chip will use in Xiaomi’s Mi 11 model, then it will appear in brands. Such as Asus, Black Shark, Lenovo, LG, Meizu, Motorola, Nubia, Realme, OnePlus, Oppo, Sharp, Sony, Vivo, and ZTE. Promising 35% better graphics performance compared to its predecessor, the chipset continues its way with the Adreno graphics unit.
“I’m glad that our new flagship smartphone Mi11 will be one of the first devices with Snapdragon 888”. Says Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi. And as mentioned in the beginning, Xiaomi is not the only company working on an 888-powered phone.
Snapdragon 888 Chipset Introduced
Qualcomm said the Snapdragon 888 chipset houses the third generation of the Elite Gaming platform that offers “the most significant upgrade in Adreno GPU performance”. Also, the sixth-generation artificial intelligence algorithm, built on the Hexagon processor, offers 26 TOPS computing capacity. So, for a slight comparison, the Snapdragon 865 chip had 15 TOPS power, and Apple’s M1 chip had 11 TOPS power. In addition, the chipset promises high energy savings with Qualcomm’s third-generation Snapdragon X60 5G modem.
It stated that the chip, which supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 communication technologies for local wireless connectivity, will triple the future of photography. So, turn smartphones into professional-quality cameras. Thanks to the advanced signal processor called The Spectra ISP, it said that smartphones with Snapdragon 888 can take 2.7 gigapixel photos per second, which equivalent to taking 120 photos at 12MP resolution.
