Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Preview
Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines first released in 2004. Even it had lots of bugs, graphic glitches, the game became a cult game and found a place in best RPGs of all-time list with its character casts, story and great missions. Now, 16 years later, the cult title returns: Vampire The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.
In the new title, we will step into World of Darkness as a Thinblood (14th or 15th generation vampires) and try to rise to the top in the vampire community in Seattle in the 21st century. It will be up to us to be a ruthless and brutal vampire or a gentle and charming vampire while trying to climb the ladders to the top.
The new game will come with some differences. For example, in the first game, we could just select our character’s physical appearance and the clan we join. But in Bloodlines 2, we will be able to choose a background for our character, too. According to the environment we adopt, people will react differently when we enter a bar, for example. That kind of small details will provide a more personalized gaming experience, which is essential for an RPG game.
Will there be Playable Clans?
Paradox Interactive confirmed that there will be five (at least till now) playable clans in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Brujah, The Tremere Clan, Toreador Clan, Ventrue Clan and Malkavians. The Brujah are the rebels of the vampire community, They are against authority, and their power comes with potency and celerity. The Tremere Clan consists of powerful warlocks who can weaponize vitae (vampire blood). The ability to control vitae makes them feared between other clans. Their power comes with Thaumaturgy and Auspex. Toreador Clan uses beauty and seduction to hunt their preys. They generally prefer to turn painters and musicians to their side. Their power comes with celerity and presence. Ventrue Clan is the founders of the Camarilla, and they prefer to boss the folk from a big tower. Paradox interactive described Ventrue as ”the clan that has already won.” Their power comes from dominate and fortitude. The Malkavians have a unique ability to see the future and get useful information from a voice inside their heads. Their power comes with auspex and fermentation. But Paradox mentioned that two more clans would be added to the game after the release.
Factions
One of the most significant differences in Bloodlines 2 is being able to choose your faction. So the gameplay and story won’t be linear. After you choose your faction, you can change your mind and change your faction anytime. Or you can even be a double agent. According to Paradox, there will be five factions to choose from in Bloodlines 2. The Pioneers, Camarilla, The Baron, The Newcomers and The Unseen. You can get detailed information about the factions from the official Bloodlines 2 website.
Resonances
There will be five blood resonances in Bloodlines 2. Delirium, Desire, Fear, Pain, and Rage. Drinking blood with different resonances will give different additional abilities.
Creative director Ka’ai Cluney said: “The idea is that not all blood is the same. These characters might be filled with delirium, others might be filled with rage, and by drinking different types of resonance [blood], we’re treating it as sort of a secondary type of experience that further allows you to customize your character based on your preferred tastes” in a gameplay commentary.
Where and When to Buy Bloodlines 2?
There is no exact date for the release till now. We just know, the game will be released in 2020 for Pc and Consoles. According to Paradox Interactive, Bloodlines 2 won’t be an exclusive game for any stores or gaming platforms. It will be available on the Paradox Store, Steam, GOG, Epic, Xbox One, PS4 and also the next-gen gaming console PS5.
