Why is PS5 big?

We already knew about PS5‘s features, games, and even its controller design. But finally, we get to see the PS5 design in the previous days. It has really sharp edges with a futuristic design. Despite its awesome design, it still became a joking matter among gamers. They also asked another question about the console that we don’t even know its price. Why is PS5 this big?

Well, it seems there are lots of answers to give to this question. The first answer to come to mind is because they want to emphasize of the slimness of the slim version of the console. As you remember, PS3’s and also PS4’s first versions were bulkier and kind of uglier than slim versions of them. But for PS5, it might not be like that.

So, why is PS5 big?

According to Sony, the answer to the question is because of PS5’s power. It’s built like a high-end PC. Vice President of User Experience Design of Sony, Matt MacLaurin stated:

“Thermals. This gen is like a little supercomputer. While the 7nm process delivers amazing heat performance for power, the power is very extreme. This tech is still so fresh it throws a lot of heat so we need room to dissipate. As we say in the industry, ‘this design has a strong opinion’ so it’s okay if not everyone loves it. Customization with special editions will be beyond anything is seen before. Someone mocked up a wooden on Reddit and it looked crazy good.”

Why is PS5 big?

Even if the design is mocked a lot on the internet, it’s also a way of advertising the new console. Thanks to its design, every internet user in the world know PS5. We can say that it’s mentioned more than Xbox Series X’s design.

This answer is quite acceptable. But there are still too many questions that are not answered about this new generation console of Sony. We have to wait for a little while to get our answers. In the end, PS5 will meet with gamers in Holiday 2020. Stay tuned for more information about PS5!
