Breakthrough for Fortnite: The Game Reaches 250 Million Players

The launch of Apex Legends did not affectFortnite’s growth and its place as the most popular game at the moment. Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, recentlydropped some information about the state of Unreal Engine and Fortnite. First and foremost,the director revealed that Fortnite increased its number of registered playersto 250 million, therefore reaffirming its position as most popular game at themoment.

The battle royale game hasn’t seen a drop off because of the rival EA’spopular Apex Legends. Sweeney added that the only game you can see where itspeaks cut into Fortnite playtime is FIFA, a game for everybody which wildly populararound the world. The popularity of the game is also amplified by the fact thatFortnite can be played from PlayStation 4, XboxOne, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOSand Android.

Interesting fact is that among the millions of players a 35% arewomen, unusual situation in video games. The success of Fortnite will enableEpic Games to set up a new $100 million fund for Unreal Mega Grants for gamedevelopers.
