Sony Has Been Sued Due to Limiting Game Sales
Sony has a pretty strict policy when it comes to limiting games. From what it looks like, the consumers don’t like this policy at all. Now the users sued the company.
Sony is in trouble with gamers
According to the gamers that made the lawsuit, Sony stopped retailers to sell any kind of game code. And that is not something new. According to Bloomberg, this has been around for two years. And it looks like the gamers had it enough. Because right now, the only source for the digital PlayStation Games is the PS Store. The users want to change this once and for all. Not everyone wants to buy something from PlayStation Store.
“Sony’s monopoly allows it to charge supracompetitive prices for digital PlayStation games, which are significantly higher than their physical counterparts sold in a competitive retail market, and significantly higher than they would be in a competitive retail market for digital games,” Says the consumers about Sony. However, that is not everything about the lawsuit.
According to the lawsuit, the consumers end up paying as much as 175% more for downloadable games than the same ones on disk. We don’t know if this lawsuit will work. Because Sony is doing this for two years and no one stopped the company from doing this. But maybe, this will be the beginning of something new. Maybe the owner of the PlayStation will take a step back? We will have to wait and see.
On the other hand, Sony is still happy with PlayStation due to the stock shortage. Because they came up with another critically acclaimed game called Returnal. We also got a chance to test it out.
