ISOCELL HM3 Image Sensor Official Introduction

Months later, Samsung released a promotional video for the ISOCELL HM3 image sensor, which is only available on the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The video in question could be a harbinger of new smartphones with HM3.

Smartphones with a 108-megapixel main camera have been on the market for a while and many brands have 108 MP camera phones. However, the 108 MP ISOCELL HM3 image sensor in the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, announced in January, is considered the most advanced 108 MP camera on the market and we have not seen it on any smartphone other than the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Few people have the opportunity to experience the capabilities of the HM3 image sensor. Samsung will also be aware of this situation, months after its launch, it released a detailed promotional video for the ISOCELL HM3 image sensor.

Samsung explains its technologies such as ISOCELL 2.0, Nonapixel, Smart-ISO Pro with detailed animations instead of using the photos taken with HM3 and saying “Look, it can do this” in the video published. In a sense, it details why the ISOCELL HM3 is such a special sensor to be used in a single smartphone model.

To summarize briefly. While the ISOCELL 2.0 technology in the ISOCELL HM3 sensor serves to separate pixels and increase color accuracy. Nonapixel technology combines 9 pixels to act as a single pixel, enabling better images to be captured in both extreme and low light environments. Smart-ISO provides 12-bit color depth and high-quality HDR images.

The fact that Samsung released a promotional video for the ISOCELL HM3 months after its launch was interpreted as a hint that the image sensor in question could soon be seen on a new Galaxy smartphone and other brands’ smartphones.
