The story of the series

Bruce Artwick started the development of Flight Simulator in 1977. Now we are in 2020, which means that we are talking about a past of 43 years. Sublogic first distributed the company for various personal computers. Additionaly, in 1981 Alan M. Boyd approached Artwick, who was interested in creating a “definitive game” that would graphically show the difference between old 8-bit computers like Microsoft II and new 16-bit computers. After that, in 1982, Artwick’s company licensed a version of Flight Simulator for Microsoft PC to Microsoft and marketed it as Microsoft Flight Simulator 1.00. In 2009, Microsoft closed Aces Game Studio, which is responsible for creating and maintaining the Flight Simulator series. In 2014, they gave Dovetail Games the right to move Gold Edition of Microsoft’s Flight Simulator X to Steam and release Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition.
