Worlds 2019 finals viewer count nearly doubled the last year’s finals

League of Legends World Championship 2019 has come to an end. While the whole tournament was a treat for the fans, it also did some serious numbers for Riot Games. According to Esports Charts, the closing game between G2 Esports and FunPlus Phoenix reached 3.7 million at its peak.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Riot did some serious numbers with their esports events. Last quarter-final game in the tournament between Splyce and SK Telecom T1 broke the Fortnite’s previous record for the most-viewed esports event. But this finals was a surprise as it nearly doubled last year’s Worlds finals when China’s Invictus Gaming faced Europe’s Fnatic.

Although the final games were great when it came to viewership deals, it wasn’t very pleasing for the western fans as the series were an absolute smash. FPX dominated the rift against probably the best team Europe has ever produced and lift the Summoner’s Cup with a clean sweep.
